[P365: Y3D13] Bali, Day 4 : Kerta Gosa

This day our first stop is Hall of Justice (Kerta Gosa), located in the center of Klungkung town in front of Klungkung Puputan Memorial.

The pond near the main entrance. Speaking of entrance, visitors are required to wear sarong to enter. Sarongs are provided free at the main entrance.

Hanhan had at the beginning hesitated to do so, but have been asked / forced / reminded by guards to follow the rule not long after he enter the place.

After 2 days of temple visiting, the gang seems already tired of another temple, even it’s just our first stop of the day ^^||

Kerta Gosa is the name of the former Royal Courts of Justice in Klungkung. Set is a courtyard of ponds, the highlight is an elaborately decorated ceiling featuring the wayang style of painting.

The style of the paintings is Kamasan (wayang) and has a 2-dimensional puppet-like appearance, as it takes its form from the wayang-kulit shadow puppets. The story of painting is The Epic of life Balinese Journey of the soul.

Wonder why are there these foreign ambassador like statue. How these foreigners gain this kind of status until they be made into statues?

The museum features early farming tools, paintings, models, kris (traditional knives) and other items including a Barong, the lion dance costume. The place give us a very Malaysian feel (well, similar cultures ^^||), thus the gang were a bit bored.

Our next stop is Bukit Jambul, a hill located in north of Klungkung, which took us about 30 minutes drive from Court Justice. At the place we get to view the mountains and plains, however the view isn’t that spectacular and is so-so only, thus we didn’t stop long.

Our 3rd stop of the day is Besakih Mother Temple, located in slope of Mount Agung about 1000 meters above sea level. We had had our lunch at a warong / shop located at the bottom of the slope. Had ordered Bakso Ayam (Chicken Meatball Soup)

It cost me 15k Rupiah. Taste is okay, but it is really not acceptable for such a small bowl size at that price. Well, although have to admit that even such a small size, didn’t feel hungry till dinner time. Coincidence? ^^||
